I am a sculpture.
Every day of my life,
I feel my experiences
chipping away the grime
of biases
and opinions
and judgments
that drenched my being
since the day I was born.
Every day of my life,
I become purer
and wiser
and cleaner -
I become a greater person.
Every day of my life,
I learn
and I grow
and I fight
to be the best me that I can be.
I chisel away the rough edges
and smooth out the deep lines
cut into my soul
by cruel strangers
by lost friends
by mislead family
and I begin break free.
I'm starting to see,
through the cracks
and the dust
and unfinished ends
the true me peeking through.
I am a work in progress.

I love those moments when nature seems just as - if not more - intelligent than us. I think we humans need to be reminded of our place in life more often. Our population is far too egotistical of our existence and far too careless of all others. We are ONE species out of billions - how dare we think ourselves to be Gods? What you may see a stupid animal or a mindless plant may be reading your mind or carefully contemplating the purpose of the universe and you'd never be the wiser. Simply because they can not understand our language does not mean they are less intelligent - their species is older and wiser. It is we who are too foolish and stupid to remember and speak the language of nature - the language our own species once spoke. We have forgotten too much yet we convince ourselves just the opposite. We believe we've come so far in the world. Oh really? We are tearing our planet apart and slowly poisoning our own species and every other species on this planet. I certainly wouldn't call that progress. You claim our technology is advanced? Our technology still, to this day, can not come even close to matching that of the ancients who built great monuments that were 100% to a hundredth of a decimal perfectly aligned with every piece of themselves and the stars above them as well as the Earth's magnetic fields. THAT is advanced. We are fools who throw sticks and stones at ourselves and the world, who climb to the top of the nearest dirt pile and stand upon in, beating our chests and imagining a halo of sovereignty above our heads. So I raise my hand and salute you, nature. You remain so patient with us no matter how much we hurt you - like a mother patiently watching a growing, learning child. I dream of the day when humans remember the sacredness of nature and of being "one" so that we might actually begin to understand the concept of "God."

 You will never understand,
You will never see,
You will never really know
what it's like for me.

I see so much
that hides from your eyes,
I hear the silence
that's filled with lies.

I walk in crowds
but feel so alone.
Quiet in thought,
deep in my zone.

I could try to explain it,
I could go on and on.
Yet no one will hear
my quiet, wise song.

You see me as young
but my mind is so old.
Listen or not, though,
the truth will unfold.

You'll call me naive,
You'll say I don't know,
but just give it time -
my wisdom will show.

My words will prove true,
My voice will be heard.
Your hate will be looked on
as old and absurd.

The time isn't coming -
the time, friends, is now.
Just open your minds
and be one with the tao.

Sometimes I lose control of my emotions and become so unbelievably enraged with ignorant individuals. Individuals who allow their emotions to block their minds and withhold themselves from logical thinking. Individuals who form opinions and place votes that will effect the entire country without doing anything research. To me, that is like jumping off a plane and pulling millions of people with you because you THINK there's a parachute on your back, though you never actually check. Not only are you endangering yourself but you are endangering the lives of others.

But then I calm myself and remember that our world still has millions - billions, perhaps - of years left to live and those young and naive souls still have time to learn. Though it still hurts me that others will suffer from their close-mindedness, I understand that it is out of my control and all I can do is have faith that their souls will grow in time...

Our lives are no different than our dreams. Knowingly or not, we create our own destinies and our own dreams. Sometimes, the experiences are not always what we think we want them to be, yet somewhere deep in our soul we have always known that that is exactly what we need to grow. Every experience, every dream, is message from our souls. If we don't remember this, we lose sight of the connections in the world and become caught up in a seemingly never-ending chaos. Many try to argue with destiny, claiming "God" gave us free will. These people don't understand that our destiny was created by our own free will - we just don't remember that right now. Trust yourself and pay attention to every experience and every dream you encounter. They exist for a reason; They are your stepping stones to a great world, a greater dimension. They are there to lift you up, not to cause you to fall down. It's much the same as climbing a mountain: If you pay close attention to each step, you will climb further and further up the mountain until you reach that great peak. However, if you lose focus and allow yourself to become distracted, you will trip upon every neck rock in your path and continue to fall further and further to the bottom. Keep sight of life, pay attention to everything your life and your dreams have to tell you, and hold faith in yourself and your destiny. We are all headed for great things.

You do not have to be old to be wise and you aren't necessarily wise if you're old. You see, wisdom does not come with age - it comes with an open mind. As long as you live your life believing you've got things figured out, you will never be wise. It is not until you open your mind and listen to everything as though you know nothing at all that you begin to acquire wisdom. It doesn't even take a lifetime to become as wise as the Dalai Lama himself. Once you open your mind, the wisdom begins to soak in like rain to parched Earth. Sometimes, it can be a little overwhelming. The rain will come too fast and there will be a flood of knowledge, some of which you just can not soak up. Just be patient and keep your mind open and slowly you will continue to draw in more and more. This is not as hard as it sounds. You don't have to be a guru meditating on a mountain peak - anyone can do it from any place in the world. All you have to do is open your mind and allow the wisdom to come flowing in.

Everyday we learn new things, see new places, meet new faces; and, though they seem so insignificant to us at the time, every one of them has a large effect on our lives. If you have ever heard of the Butterfly Effect, then this will make a bit more sense to you. Every moment of our lives is like that little butterfly, creating a small flutter in the wind that will lead a hurricane of actions and emotions later on in our lives. And each of these moments compile together into days, months, years...
The more good things you do, the more good times you will have. The more bad things you do, the more bad times will befall upon you. The only thing that keeps us from seeing this every day is time and that is mankind's greatest enemy. It is time that tricks us into making mistakes - time that encourages to do bad things.
When training a dog, you are told to give them a treat as soon as they sit so they know what they are being rewarded for. If you wait too long, they'll just think it's a free treat!
Well, we humans are much the same.
If you do something bad (such as push a person out of the way while walking down the hall at school), a time span immediately begins to create unconsciously in your mind.
If that person were to reach around and grab you by the collar and punch you, surely you'd know WHY that happened!
However, if they did nothing and went on about their business, you would eventually forget about it. Then a day or two down the road, you trip while walking home from school and twist your ankle. Your mind would have never once thought "OH! This happened because I pushed that person in the hall the other day!" No, you're going to think "Ugh! Why me?!?"
This, my friends, is a wonderful little thing called KARMA.
Now, when most people hear this word, they think of it as something negative, though that is not always the case!
Karma works in BOTH ways; good and bad!
I'm sure many of you have heard "What goes around, comes around."
Well, that pretty much sums up karma.
If you do something good, something good will happen to you.
If you do something bad, something bad will happen to you.
However, the effects are rarely immediate.
But if you remember this small lesson in this note, you will now remember NOT to let time deceive you and understand that every action has consequences and you never REALLY get away with anything.
If things are going badly in your life, try raising your karma. Go out and do some community service, provide a crying shoulder for another friend who's having a rough time, help a kitten out of a tree! Doing good things can do nothing but benefit you (and those around you) in the long-run.
