Everyday we learn new things, see new places, meet new faces; and, though they seem so insignificant to us at the time, every one of them has a large effect on our lives. If you have ever heard of the Butterfly Effect, then this will make a bit more sense to you. Every moment of our lives is like that little butterfly, creating a small flutter in the wind that will lead a hurricane of actions and emotions later on in our lives. And each of these moments compile together into days, months, years...
The more good things you do, the more good times you will have. The more bad things you do, the more bad times will befall upon you. The only thing that keeps us from seeing this every day is time and that is mankind's greatest enemy. It is time that tricks us into making mistakes - time that encourages to do bad things.
When training a dog, you are told to give them a treat as soon as they sit so they know what they are being rewarded for. If you wait too long, they'll just think it's a free treat!
Well, we humans are much the same.
If you do something bad (such as push a person out of the way while walking down the hall at school), a time span immediately begins to create unconsciously in your mind.
If that person were to reach around and grab you by the collar and punch you, surely you'd know WHY that happened!
However, if they did nothing and went on about their business, you would eventually forget about it. Then a day or two down the road, you trip while walking home from school and twist your ankle. Your mind would have never once thought "OH! This happened because I pushed that person in the hall the other day!" No, you're going to think "Ugh! Why me?!?"
This, my friends, is a wonderful little thing called KARMA.
Now, when most people hear this word, they think of it as something negative, though that is not always the case!
Karma works in BOTH ways; good and bad!
I'm sure many of you have heard "What goes around, comes around."
Well, that pretty much sums up karma.
If you do something good, something good will happen to you.
If you do something bad, something bad will happen to you.
However, the effects are rarely immediate.
But if you remember this small lesson in this note, you will now remember NOT to let time deceive you and understand that every action has consequences and you never REALLY get away with anything.
If things are going badly in your life, try raising your karma. Go out and do some community service, provide a crying shoulder for another friend who's having a rough time, help a kitten out of a tree! Doing good things can do nothing but benefit you (and those around you) in the long-run.
